This campaign represents a fundamentally challenging public relations task. Timing is both a great ally, and one of the biggest obstacles. So is the fact that Lance will be campaigning to be our country's youngest-ever President (36 years old in 2008).
In the next 6 years, before the 2008 election season "officially" begins, there is a lot that can be done to broaden the national impact of this campaign- and Lance is fully ready to work at it. He currently plans to begin full-time campaigning in 2002, touring the country for 5 years to raise awareness of the campaign. This 5-year campaign tour could create an unstoppable voter uprising, or it could simply create a fringe movement. The difference between the two will depend on fundraising and public relations.

 | Internet politics- The Lance Brown for President campaign has had an online presence since 1996. Many 1996 campaigns didn't even have an online presence then! The 2000 Campaign is proving that the Internet is an essential tool for political campaigns. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of sites devoted to politics and elections. And unlike most other political campaigns, Lance's will have spent 12 years "working the Internet" when the 2008 election is in full force. |
| The 2008 campaign: The 2008 Presidential election will, like most
others, probably have about 250 declared candidates when Election Day
comes. Currently a web search for "president 2008" garnered 73
results, of which about half were related to U.S. campaigns for the
Presidency in 2008. Lance's site was the number one result. About 10 of
30+ campaign listings were sites listing various future candidates for office.
Lance's site was linked to from each of them. About 5 of other
listings were from people declaring an interest in running in 2008. All
of them essentially declare on their sites that they are not planning a
"serious run" for the office- except for the one site that
doesn't exist anymore. Here is the key statistic: of the 35 or so relevant results in the web search for "president 2008," pages from Lance's web site were 21 of those results! That, along with being the top search result, means that Lance's is by far the dominant campaign for 2008 to date. |
